    Current News

    Los Angeles – Jeffery Robert Wienberg 22, was arrested for hacking into a MySpace profile account owned by Amor Hilton. Wienberg was charged with extortion.

    Norcross Ga. – Wiliam Bryant 38 a form system administrator for Cox Communication, was sentenced for remotely shutting down portions of the company’s systems after being asked to resign.

    Montville N.J. – Tung-Hsun Lin 51 – was sentenced to over two years for planting a “logic bomb” on the network of his former employer in an attempt to destroy vital health care data.

    Brazil – Greek officials arrested a 58-year old mathematician known as “ASTRA” wanted for stealing sensitive weapons technology data and selling it to the highest bidders.

    SwedenHackers hijacked two websites commonly used by university students to purchase discount items, such as train and airline tickets. The hackers did not steal any of the personal data, choosing instead to leave a message warning that the sites were insecure.

    U.K. – Thieves stole a laptop containing personal information of 600,000 people from the car of a military recruitment officer. Some 153,000 people had their national health service, drivers license numbers, passport and medical details on the machine.

    Japan – Authorities charged a 24-year old university student with writing a virus to propagate through the Winny P2P file-sharing network. The Trojan, allegedly created by Masato Naktsuji, stole documents from power companies, police, ISPs and placed them on the file-sharing network.
